Blistered Shishito Peppers with Madame Susan Sichuan Dipping Sauce

Appetizer, Side Dish (Vegan)

5 minutes prep, 10 minutes cooking time

Shishito peppers are a wonderfully healthy appetizer or snack that’s quick and easy to make. Only about 1 in 10 are spicy. Madame Susan’s Sichuan Dipping Sauce dresses up these peppers oh so well!

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups of fresh shishito peppers
  • 3 tbsp of olive, avocado, or any oil you use for cooking
  • 2 tbsp Madame Susan Sichuan Dipping Sauce

Equipment:

  • Large frying pan, wok or cast iron skillet

Directions:

  1. Wash shishito peppers, pat dry, and place in a bowl. Make sure you dry the peppers to prevent splatters when cooking.
  2. Drizzle about 1 tbsp of oil on the peppers and toss to coat the peppers well. This ensures even blistering.
  3. Heat remaining 2 tbsp of oil in a pan or skillet over medium-high heat. Madame Susan finds medium-high heat the sweet spot for blistering and even cooking.
  4. When pan is hot, put in the peppers and cook until you see blisters and darkened spots forming and the pepper starts to shrink just a little bit (about 7-9 minutes).
  5. Turn off the heat. Add in Madame Susan Sichuan Dipping Sauce (ensure to shake well to mix the oil and vinegar solution).  Toss to coat evenly. Serve immediately while hot.
